Women face significantly higher risk of Osteoporosis

It is estimated that in India more than 3 crore people are suffering from Osteoporosis.Women out of this have disproportionately high percentage of sufferers.Almost one out of three ladies crossing 30 is at risk of Osteoporosis. The leading causes are 
Hereditary-If one of the parents suffers from Osteoporosis the chances of the girl child developing this is significantly higher(about 70%).
Irregular periods during young age
Lack of calcium rich diet and vitamin D
No physical exercise and mental stress
Prevention can be done by first by having calcium rich diet.Medically bone density test can also be done which can correctly tell you the condition of the bone so that with in time steps can be taken to prevent deterioration.
