During exams, students tend to study for longer hours and spend most of the time while sitting, reading, and laboring assignments for practical exams, many often in awkward and static positions. Most of the time students sit in poorly designed seats and study tables that contribute to back aches. And when they are tired they opt for a leaning posture to relax themselves and put pillows at the back while tilting their heads forward towards the study material. Such postures may cause muscles and other soft tissues to be stretched or shortened. These abnormal stresses on the spine and related muscles can further cause discomfort ranging from minor to severe pain in head, neck or back. Therefore, avoid long sittings and poor postures while studying as this can affect your spine health adversely. Take breaks, have sufficient knee room to allow comfort, get a chair that is adjustable, comfortably padded and at a height that won’t slouch your back and shoulders leaning forward.
